TERMS OF USE

The short version:
it is your Mac.

Last updated 21 August 2026. Applies to Mac Vitals, Mac Pulse and this website. Written to be read, not to be survived.

Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the software on Macs you own or control. It is licensed, not sold. You may not resell it, rent it, redistribute it, or ship it inside another product. You may not remove notices from it. You may take it apart to see how it works, to the extent the law where you live says you may regardless of what this page claims.

The two editions

Mac Vitals is downloaded directly, notarized by Apple, and unlocks its paid modules with a signed licence file verified on your Mac. Mac Pulse is the Mac App Store edition. It runs in the App Sandbox, which is why it has no per-process list, port map, container stats, sensors or remote agents — Apple does not permit those from a sandboxed app, and no payment changes that.

Subscription — Mac Pulse

Mac Pulse is free to download. The LLM monitor is an optional auto-renewing yearly subscription, sold through Apple.

  • The first month is free. If you subscribe during a free trial, the unused part of that trial is forfeited.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • It renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Manage or cancel it in System Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ Media & Purchases. We cannot cancel it for you — Apple holds the subscription, not us.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us. reportaproblem.apple.com.

Everything in Mac Pulse other than the LLM monitor is free, and stays free. We will not move a feature you already have behind the subscription.

Licence file — Mac Vitals

The direct edition is a one-time purchase. The licence file is an Ed25519-signed text file checked on your Mac, with no server involved, so it keeps working offline and after any licensing server would have been retired. Install it on the Macs you personally use. Do not publish it — it is the key, and a published key is everybody's key.

What the software does not promise

It is a monitor. It reports what the operating system and your hardware tell it, and those sources are occasionally wrong, unavailable, or denied by a permission you did not grant. Do not use it as the only signal for anything where being wrong is expensive — an unattended shutdown, a medical or industrial process, a trading decision. The alert engine runs actions you write, including shell commands; what those commands do is yours.

The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the software is limited to what you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.

Your data

We collect nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry — see the privacy policy, which is the same length as this sentence suggests it would be. Anything the software records stays in ~/Library/Application Support/ on your Mac.

Changes

If these terms change materially the date above changes, and the previous version stays in the site's public repository history. Continuing to use the software after that means you accept the current version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes a consumer right you hold under the law where you live.
